Students taking part in the blockade of the Orthodox Theological Faculty announced on social media that they fully support Metropolitan Justin, after the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church decided to form a special commission to conduct an additional audit of the material and financial operations of the Diocese of Žiča, headed by Metropolitan Justin. The audit is scheduled for today in Kraljevo.

The students first reminded that the Serbian Orthodox Church has been under pressure from the highest state officials because of, as they stated, its support for its people.

They also added that the “ruling” church hierarchy increasingly acts within the framework that suits the ruling regime and creates mechanisms to serve that purpose.

“The term ‘blessing’ is often manipulated in order to take away the right to free thought, all for the protection of the regime and their own positions. Because of the dictatorial regime, freedom no longer exists even where, as believers, we had most hoped to find it. No institution is free anymore, nor is the Serbian Orthodox Church,” stated the students in the blockade, adding that despite everything, there is still one metropolitan in Serbia who stands with his people — Metropolitan Justin.

The students emphasized that it is precisely because of that support that Metropolitan Justin is now under attack.

They pointed out that the decision to form a special commission to conduct an additional audit of the Diocese of Žiča’s material and financial operations is seen as an attempt to pressure and intimidate those who have faithfully served their duty to the people and to Christ.

The students concluded that they stand firmly with Metropolitan Justin, and that his courage to publicly stand for truth and for the people, in difficult times for Serbia, gives them strength to persevere.

As a reminder, students from Novi Pazar, who set off on foot to the gathering in Novi Sad scheduled for November 1 — marking the anniversary of the collapse of the shelter in Novi Sad, in which 16 people lost their lives and one was seriously injured — spent the night on Saturday in the Studenica Monastery.

This monastery is part of the Diocese of Žiča, led by Metropolitan Justin, who supported the students, which led to his being placed under investigation by the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), with the explanation that the manner in which he manages the diocese has been called into question.
