Former Crvena zvezda basketball player Vladimir Štimac spoke out immediately after being released on Tuesday afternoon.
Štimac was arrested during the night between Sunday and Monday and was released on Tuesday after being questioned at the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade.
He sent a strong message to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
“Thank you, first of all, for standing by me, for showing up everywhere. We move on, we’re not stopping anywhere, we’re fighting against this corrupt and criminal regime. If they think they can break me in 18 square meters — I grew up in 18 square meters, they all need to know that. Aleksandar Vučić must know that I am not someone who will give up on justice and normalcy, and all his tricks — he can forget about them,” said Štimac.
The gathered citizens responded with applause, ovations, and chants for the former Crvena zvezda basketball player.
