The Serbian national basketball team played its first match at EuroBasket yesterday. Svetislav Pešić’s team recorded a convincing victory over Estonia with a score of 98:64.
This will be Stefan Jović’s last national team competition in his career. Due to private reasons, he was not in the 12 at the Olympic Games, and he almost certainly would have played in Paris. However, fate had it that way, and now his “Last dance” is ahead of him.
-It was an internal joke between him and me for the ‘Last dance in Manila,’ but after all the private matters last summer, which is why I was not on the team for the Olympic Games, after talking with the head coach and Bogdan, we decided that this year would still be the Last dance for me. I am overjoyed to be here and to be with my teammates – Stefan Jović said recently.
Special Sneakers
The Serbian playmaker decided to mark his last journey with the national team by – drawing on his sneakers. Jović, namely, on his Nike sneakers from the Kobe Bryant line, wrote on one side the well-known motto of Svetislav Pešić: “All for one, one for all.”
On the other side of the sneakers, the Serbian tricolor, an eagle, and the message: “Last dance” are painted.
