Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that the Serbian leadership will hold a meeting next week to discuss the winners of the upcoming presidential elections in the U.S. He noted that they will talk about what happens if Democratic candidate Kamala Harris wins and what if Republican candidate Donald Trump becomes the new U.S. president.
“We now have two unknowns coming from the U.S. One is less unknown and the other is more unknown. Most citizens of Serbia support Trump, but for emotional, not rational reasons. That does not reflect poorly on us, but anyone engaged in politics and decision-making cannot be guided by that,” Vučić told Prva TV.
He emphasized that both presidential candidates have run outstanding campaigns in the last seven days. “Kamala is trying to appeal to the female voter base, putting aside all racial, national, and other differences. Trump wants to attract as many men as possible to vote for him to secure a win,” he said.
Speaking about the conflict in Ukraine, the president mentioned that he would prefer the war to end.
“As Trump said, if he comes to power, he will end that war before taking office,” Vučić noted.
He added that there is no doubt Trump has influence over Ukrainian President Zelensky.
“Zelensky will have to listen to Trump if he wins,” Vučić assessed. “But the question is what Trump will say, as well as what Putin will say. What if Kamala wins? I am sure she will not completely align with Biden’s policies,” the Serbian president added.
