Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović said today that the situation in the Mačva and Kolubara districts is stable, but that the situation in the country regarding the severe weather, when speaking about the territory of Serbia as a whole, is significantly worse compared to the data with which the night ended, and that this concerns other districts—the Zlatibor and Moravica districts and, to a lesser extent, the Rasina District.

She said that there is a major failure on a power transmission line in Ivanjica, which workers of Elektromreža Srbije and Elektrodistribucija Srbije located throughout the night and found early this morning, and that its repair is currently underway. She emphasized that 100 percent of the failures on transmission lines were caused by falling trees.

After the session of the City Emergency Situations Headquarters of Loznica, which she chaired, Mesarović told RTS that she is proud that the situation in the Mačva and Kolubara districts is stable.

“I am particularly proud of that, bearing in mind that in the previous days we invested superhuman efforts—employees in power distribution, EMS, and private companies that are helping us day and night, risking their lives—to eliminate failures. I am truly proud of the enormous results we have achieved in recent days so that all failures have been repaired when it comes to these two districts, and I can say with complete confidence that the situation here is stable, of course with some minor outages that are resolved on the ground within half an hour to an hour,” Mesarović emphasized.

She stated that those numbers are really small—several hundred in both districts—but stressed that “every household is important to us, above all to the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić, for whom there is currently no more important matter in the world than this—to stabilize the electric power system of our country and ensure regular supply for our citizens.”

Mesarović assessed that the problem did not arise as a result of any failure to act by the state, but that weather conditions caused such a situation.

Answering the question of how many consumers in the Moravica and Zlatibor districts are currently without electricity, she said that the situation changes from hour to hour and that the competent authorities are doing everything they can.
