Novak Djokovic has forfeited his Australian Open semifinal match against Alexander Zverev after the first set. The Serbian tennis player clearly had a problem with an injury, which forced him to retire.
Novak Djokovic had not trained for two days before the semifinal, and there were doubts about whether he would be ready for this match.
The ten-time champion tried to reach another final in Melbourne – but in the end, he did not have the strength. After the first set, which was played at a high level and which he lost in a tie-break, the Serb decided to withdraw.
Not how we wanted your campaign to end, @djokernole.

Thank you for another wonderful Australian summer. Well played and best wishes for a speedy recovery.#AO2025 pic.twitter.com/d5VJ6YNBeN
Obviously, the injury he sustained in the match against Carlos Alcaraz was more serious than expected.
Djokovic failed to reach his 100th win at the first Grand Slam of the season – and for now, his pursuit of the 25th Grand Slam and 100th career title has ended.
Zverev will play the Australian Open final for the first time in his career – the third time in his career he will fight for one of the four most important titles in tennis. Previously, he lost in the title fights at the US Open and Roland Garros.
His opponent in the final in Melbourne will be the winner of the Jannik Sinner – Ben Shelton match.
