One of the most disgraceful incidents in recent football history in North Macedonia occurred before the match between Shkëndija and Brera in the national championship.
Moment of Silence Disrupted
A moment of silence was planned before the match to honor the victims of the Kočani tragedy, where 59 people lost their lives in a nightclub fire, along with an ambulance driver who later suffered a fatal heart attack.
While the rest of the stadium observed the silence to pay tribute to the victims of one of the biggest tragedies in the Balkans, a group of Shkëndija supporters decided to break the silence by singing songs dedicated to members of the terrorist organization OVK.

Possible Sanctions
Due to this incident, Shkëndija could face a 12-match ban on spectators and a fine of €5,000.
Shkëndija Issues a Statement
The club released an official statement regarding the controversy:
“We express our regret over this situation and reaffirm our unwavering stance toward the lost lives and the pain that the entire society is experiencing,” Shkëndija stated.
They also clarified that “only about 20 individuals engaged in such behavior, which does not represent the feelings, solidarity, and respect of the majority of fans present.”
