A large number of citizens, including workers, parents, and children, gathered today in front of the Sports Hall in Leposavic. The Sports Hall houses the offices of the Sports and Tourism Organization, which were taken over yesterday by the Kosovo Police.

They gathered to protest what they described as the seizure of an institution that has served for decades for the sports activities of young people.

Several police officers are stationed at the entrance of the sports facility, preventing access to the sports hall.

Workers are disgruntled because Marina Bogojević, the deputy mayor, told them yesterday that they could come to work and continue with sports activities. However, today they were not allowed to, because, as they say, “they have to integrate into the Kosovo system.”

Workers state that they will continue to come to work and cannot accept this situation because, as they say, no public facility can be prohibited anywhere in the civilized world, “only here with us.”

The assembled citizens expressed dissatisfaction over yesterday’s entry of Leposavic Mayor Luljzim Hetemi and his deputy into the premises of this institution, assisted by members of the Kosovo Police.

During that occasion, an inventory of the existing equipment and documentation was carried out, and Serbian flags were removed and replaced with Kosovo symbols.

A new sign with Kosovo symbols has been placed at the entrance to the sports hall, while the door locks have been replaced. Workers, as well as several police vehicles, are currently in front of the building, and the presence of security forces has further caused concern among citizens.
