The Kosovo Police confirmed the already known information that around 7 PM on Friday, November 29, they received information that in the village of Donje Varage, in the Zubin Potok municipality in northern Kosovo, “critical infrastructure of the Ibar Lepenac water canal was attacked and damaged,” KoSSev reports.

Competent police units immediately went to the scene and informed relevant institutions about the incident, including Emergency Services, Waterworks, the “Ibar Lepenac” company, and the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK).

They claim that together with other relevant Kosovo institutions, they took all necessary security measures, including stopping the flow of water and the possibility of repairing the damaged canal.

The Kosovo Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit also launched an intensive investigation and inspection at the scene.

“Based on the findings so far, it has been determined that the explosion was a deliberate attack, and that it was a criminal terrorist act carried out by the suspects,” the statement reads.

There is no information about the suspects, but the highest Kosovo officials have already directly pointed the finger at the Serbian side. The Kosovo Police continued to coordinate their work, including informing international security institutions.

“The Kosovo Police has increased security measures at sensitive locations and continues to work intensively to shed light on this incident,” they add at the end, calling on citizens to report any information or knowledge.

As a reminder, a strong explosion occurred on Friday evening around 7 PM in the village of Varage near Zubin Potok. This led to a disruption in the water supply, and electricity was also cut off.

The “Ibar-Lepenac” hydro-enterprise in Pristina explained that the main canal that supplies water to water utilities and the Electric Power Corporation was damaged.
