On Zlatibor, Kopaonik and in Sjenica, the snow cover reached up to 30 centimeters this morning, and the AMSS is warning drivers not to set out without winter equipment.

The previous evening, in the Zlatibor District, rain turned into sleet and snow, and traffic toward one of Serbia’s busiest mountain destinations is, for now, proceeding without major problems.

“Seven trucks have been deployed to clear the roads. Snow is still falling, but it is not accumulating in large amounts on the roadway. Crews are also spreading materials, the temperature is around zero,” stated Putevi Užice.

Drivers are advised to be cautious and not to set out without appropriate winter equipment.

Snow has covered mountains across Serbia, with a snow blanket forming on Zlatibor, Kopaonik and in Sjenica, reaching up to 30 cm in some places, while temperatures have sharply dropped below zero.

According to data from the Republic Hydrometeorological Service (RHMZ), snow fell in hilly and mountainous areas — on Zlatibor, Kopaonik and in Sjenica. It remained on the ground on Tara and Zlatibor, while 30 centimeters were measured on Kopaonik.

Snow also fell on the Pešter plateau, in Sjenica and on Golija, and all roads are passable.

Spring officially begins on Friday at 15:46.

With the influx of colder air, snow is expected in mountainous areas of western and southwestern Serbia, while in lower regions brief snowfall is possible at elevations of 400–500 meters.

During the week, variable cloudy weather is expected, with occasional and short-term precipitation. Light snow is possible in the mountains, while maximum temperatures will range between 10 and 15 degrees.

Precipitation is expected only toward the end of March, while the likelihood of snow is low. According to meteorologists, March will end as an above-average warm month with a lack of precipitation.
