A 48-year-old Serbian citizen was arrested in Alcira, near Valencia, on a marijuana plantation where over 1,000 plants were found. According to Spanish media, the Spanish National Police located the plantation inside an industrial warehouse in an urban area of the city. The Serbian man is suspected of being responsible for guarding the plantation and cultivating the plants.
“Police discovered that a large amount of electricity was being consumed in the warehouse. It is a building surrounded by houses and is fully adapted for indoor marijuana cultivation. When they entered the warehouse, agents discovered a ‘wild’ connection to the power grid and saw smoke coming out, probably due to overheating cables,” Spanish investigators revealed.
They stated that they found it suspicious that the building was consuming 12 times more electricity than was usual.

“In the warehouse, 1,015 plants, 90 LED light panels, four mobile phones, and €335 in cash were found. The plants, in an advanced state of flowering, weighed 245 kilograms. Six air conditioners, 11 carbon filters, 23 fans, and five air extractors were also installed. 56 bottles of additives and 44 bags of soil were also discovered,” eldebate.com reported.
The Serbian citizen, who was handcuffed at the marijuana plantation, already has a criminal record and was not legally residing in Spain, according to the report.
“He was brought before a judge on charges of crimes against public health and fraud related to electricity and was remanded in custody,” the media reported.
