A 43-year-old Serbian man died during a May Day outing in the Styrian Alps in Austria’s Leoben district. The accident occurred yesterday, when the man fell from a height of 100 meters.
“A climbing trip to Hochblaser near Eisenerz ended fatally for the man. The climber, born in Serbia, fell over 100 meters during descent. The exact cause of the fall is still unclear,” Austrian media report.
According to reports, the man, who lived in the Graz-Umgebung district, fell down a steep ravine at an altitude of about 1,300 meters, and the person hiking with him alerted emergency services.

“Members of the Mountain Rescue Service and a police helicopter took part in the search and recovery operation. After Mountain Rescue located the body, it was retrieved from the inaccessible terrain with the help of a helicopter. Unfortunately, the authorities could only confirm the death,” sources state, adding that police said there are currently no suspicious circumstances.
“There is currently no suspicion of foul play or involvement of third parties in the Serbian man’s fall,” Austrian media report.
