The Republic of Serbia is opening two new consulates in the United States of America, one in San Francisco, the other in Miami, the head of Serbian diplomacy Marko Đurić announced today at an extraordinary session of the Serbian Parliament.
Speaking about Serbia’s need to open new diplomatic missions that would deepen economic and political ties with countries where there is an interest in cooperation and those where a large Serbian diaspora lives, Minister Đurić emphasized:
“We will strengthen access to consular services for Serbian citizens in America by opening general consulates in San Francisco and Miami, where the latter city is particularly important from a political aspect given the fact that a large number of influential and important figures from US political life come from the Florida area”, Đurić pointed out.

He also pointed out that the “final part of preparations for the start of the electronic visa issuance system” is underway.
-I expect that this will significantly speed up the flow of people to the Republic of Serbia, speed up the processing of applications and eliminate the possibility of any abuse, and that citizens of countries friendly to us with whom we have to harmonize the regime due to accession negotiations with the EU will be able to travel to Serbia more easily and simply.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs further announced the opening of other diplomatic missions:
“In the coming period, the state of Serbia must intensify cooperation with countries that have grown economically in the previous period, especially with the so-called Asian tigers, and other countries that, due to their economic importance and trade exchange, have begun to surpass some G8 member countries. We will renew the work of the diplomatic mission in Vietnam, we will establish an embassy that will cover the Baltic states with its headquarters in Riga. We will strengthen our presence on the African continent by opening an embassy in Tanzania.
