The Mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić, declared today a Day of Mourning on the territory of the city, due to the severe accident caused by the collapse of the canopy of the Novi Sad Railway Station building.
The days of mourning will begin on November 2, the city administration announced.
Earlier, the Government of Serbia declared November 2 as a Day of Mourning in Serbia, due to the deaths and suffering of citizens caused by the collapse of the construction of the Novi Sad Railway Station.

The Government declared November 2 as a Day of Mourning pursuant to the Law on the Marking of Days of Mourning in the Republic of Serbia.
This law stipulates that a day of mourning shall be declared, among other things, due to a particularly severe accident resulting in the death, injury, or serious impairment of the health of a large number of people.
Eight people died today in an accident caused by the collapse of the canopy on the old building of the Novi Sad Railway Station.
