The German national handball team defeated the Spanish team in the match of the third round of Group A of the European Championship with a score of 34:32 (17:15, 17:17).

This duel was extremely important for the Serbian selection, since a victory for Spain would have led the Serbian handball players to the next stage of the competition.

With this outcome, Serbia was left without a placement in the next stage of the European Championship, and Germany as the first-placed, and the Spaniards as second in the group, go into the continuation of the competition.

Germany led during most of the first half.

They were led by Uščins with five goals scored in the first part, and a total of eight at the end of the match. The Germans had a maximum lead of four, and at halftime it was 17:15.

The Spaniards came to minus one, it was 21:20 with 20 minutes left until the end of the match, with a goal by Ian Tarrafeta, who was the most effective in the Spanish team with five goals scored.

However, the Germans re-established control on the court, and the 25-year-old German back Juri Knorr was excellent.

The final result was 34:32 in favor of the German selection.
