Air Serbia and Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services SMATSA jointly recorded the millionth flight in 2025, which, as announced, represents a historical result in domestic and regional air traffic. This record was achieved precisely by the Air Serbia flight JU 331 from Zurich to Belgrade, on December 12.
Upon the aircraft’s entry into the airspace of the Republic of Serbia, the air traffic controller, after taking over jurisdiction, informed the crew with a congratulatory message that their flight was exactly the millionth aircraft served under the jurisdiction of SMATSA in 2025, Air Serbia announced.
The female pilot in the role of captain of the A-319 aircraft shared this information with the passengers and informed them that they were witnessing the marking of a historic record.
“It is a great honor for me to have led the crew on the millionth flight in 2025 today. This operation is not just a number; it is a symbol of our dedication and continuous progress. This success speaks to the trust of passengers, the effort of our teams, and the growing role of Serbia in European air traffic. As a female captain, I hope that this result and my work will inspire new generations to follow their dreams, because our achievements show that a successful career in aviation can be built in Serbia,” stated Vesna Aleksić, Captain of Air Serbia.
Slobodan Kurćubić, Director of the Sector for Terminal and Airport Air Traffic Control, pointed out, as announced, that this day is important for SMATSA, the national air carrier Air Serbia, and the wider aviation community, “and a confirmation that there is capacity to respond to very complex demands and the needs of our service users.”
