Following discussions with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the US has moved the start of sanctions implementation on Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) for eight more days, specifically until October 8 – 9, learns Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).

According to the last postponement, the sanctions on NIS were supposed to take effect on Wednesday, October 1st. However, as RTS learns, after negotiations led by Vučić, the American side decided to move that deadline for eight more days.

The President of Serbia previously told RTS that discussions were held again with American partners with another plea to postpone the sanctions on NIS.

While it was expected yesterday whether the Americans would postpone the application of sanctions or not, the General Director of NIS, Kirill Tyurdenev, made a statement. He sent a letter to employees in which he emphasized what would happen if banks cut cooperation with NIS due to the introduction of sanctions.

This eight-day postponement will be the seventh time the American side has delayed the implementation of sanctions on NIS.
