Ljubiša Miljković from Zvečan has been sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of 14,000 euros for attacking members of KFOR and the police during the unrest in front of the Zvečan municipal building in May 2023.

The verdict for Ljubiša Miljković was delivered by Judge Violeta Namani Hajra, after the defendant reached a plea agreement with the prosecution.

Attorney Miloš Delević stated that the verdict represents yet another case in which individuals arrested in connection with the events in Zvečan accepted a plea bargain offered by the prosecution.

He recalled that all those previously arrested in the same case had already reached plea deals and thus concluded the proceedings against themselves.

“With this decision, a difficult period for my client and his family is brought to an end. We will continue to use all legal remedies available to ensure the protection of his rights,” Delević said.

Miljković was arrested in August of this year in Zvečan. He reached a plea agreement with prosecutor Bekim Kodraljiu, under which it was proposed that for the criminal offense of “attack on persons under international protection” he receive a two-year prison sentence, while for “participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism” he receive a six-month prison sentence, with the option of replacing it with a 14,000-euro fine.

The monetary fine of 14,000 euros must be paid within three months, and the time he spent in detention since the day of his arrest will be credited toward his prison sentence.

Miljković has also been ordered to pay the costs of the criminal proceedings—100 euros for the court fee and 100 euros to the Compensation Fund for victims of criminal acts.
