Croatia’s Minister of Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister, Josip Dabro, resigned last night after a video surfaced showing him firing 15 shots from an HS-2000 pistol through an open window while riding in a private car.
Dabro announced his resignation on his Facebook profile at 1 a.m., citing moral reasons, Index.hr reports.
The video, which appeared on social media in Croatia, shows Dabro firing nine shots from the HS-2000 pistol through an open window.
In the footage, Dabro is seated in the passenger seat of a car. Based on his summer attire, Index.hr suggests the video is older and likely recorded during the summer months.
It is noted that Dabro fired the shots near a populated area, as streetlights and a house can be seen through the car window.
At the beginning of the video, Dabro cocks the pistol and says, “Just for my brother Mario,” before firing nine shots through the window while singing.

After the video surfaced, Dabro confirmed its authenticity.
“Today, a private video of mine, recorded several years ago before I held any government position, was published in the media. I deeply regret this act, which was irresponsible and deeply thoughtless. I had shared the video at the time with only one person, a former friend and colleague, Mario Radić,” Dabro stated, referring to his former associate and politician Mario Radić.
According to Index.hr, Dabro claimed the video was part of “yet another devious manipulation” by Radić, who he accused of orchestrating the leak following his loss in the DP (Homeland Movement).
Dabro emphasized that the shots were blanks.
“I fully understand the concern this video may cause, but I want to stress that these were blank rounds. At no point did I endanger anyone’s safety or property. The firearm I used is legally owned, and the pistol is registered,” Dabro stated, adding an apology to the public for his actions.
“This incident does not reflect my values but is a result of a moment of thoughtlessness,” Dabro concluded.
