Monaco coach Saša Obradović has been sacked, Mondo has learned. His team has had a somewhat weaker start to the EuroLeague than expected (6-4), last week they lost to Crvena Zvezda, they recovered against Baskonia, but on Sunday they unexpectedly stumbled in the French championship against Le Mans. In front of their own fans, they suffered a heavy defeat (86:74), after which the fans booed Saša Obradović.
Following today’s meeting with the management, it was decided that the two sides would part ways, so the renowned Serbian coach will be looking for a new environment after being at the helm of Monaco since 2021.
For now, there is no information on who will succeed Obradović on the bench of the team from the Principality.
The trophy-laden Serbian basketball player and coach previously worked in Monaco in the 2019-20 season, after which he joined Crvena Zvezda, where he stayed for a short time, before returning to the Monaco bench in December 2021. They won the French championship and cup twice, while they reached the third place at the 2024 Final Four, but last year they failed to reach the playoffs of the elite competition despite having the best player – Mike James.
