The Russian tanker “Anatoliy Kolodkin,” carrying 730,000 barrels of crude oil, is heading toward Cuba and is expected to arrive at the Matanzas oil terminal around March 23, according to maritime tracking data, The Guardian reported today.
The vessel, owned by the Russian state company Sovcomflot, is sailing under the Russian flag.
This comes as Cuba suffers power outages due to the long-standing economic blockade by the United States, while U.S. President Donald Trump said he expects to have the “honor of conquering Cuba” and that he can take any measures regarding the country.

The United States has increased pressure on Cuba after toppling Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in January, halting shipments of Venezuelan oil and threatening tariffs on countries that sell oil to Cuba.
Earlier, another tanker, the “Sea Horse” under the Hong Kong flag, transported about 200,000 barrels of diesel to Cuba.

The tanker “Anatoliy Kolodkin” is on the sanctions list of the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom.
Cuba has not imported oil since January 9, when the last shipment was delivered by Mexico under pressure from Trump to halt further deliveries, The Guardian reports.
