Traffic police in Niš stopped a fifty-nine-year-old Turkish national who, while driving a Mercedes truck, committed 80 violations in the past 28 days.
As part of an international operation to increase inspections of buses and freight vehicles, police determined that he had not taken the required breaks, daily and weekly rests, and had exceeded the permitted daily driving time.
He was issued fines totaling 2.48 million dinars.
“We appeal to truck and bus drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and the rules on crew working hours in road transport, because by doing so they protect not only their own lives, but also the lives of passengers and other road users,” the police statement said.
