Basketball club Partizan issued a statement after the Executive Board meeting regarding Željko Obradović’s decision to leave the black-and-whites’ bench.
Following the failure against Panathinaikos, Obradović decided to step down at a time when Partizan has a 4-9 record in the Euroleague, only for a board session to follow a day later, at which the resignation, although marked as irrevocable, was rejected:
“On Thursday, November 27, an urgent session of the KK Partizan Executive Board was held on the topic of the newly emerging situation in the Club, following yesterday’s irrevocable resignation of the first team coach, Željko Obradović.

Despite this, the Executive Board, at the proposal of President Ostoja Mijailović, unanimously decided not to agree with Željko Obradović’s resignation and to offer him unreserved support, with the desire that he remain the head coach of KK Partizan Mozzart Bet and make the necessary moves that would bring improvement in the black-and-whites’ results.
Following this decision, the Club reached out to Željko Obradović and asked him to reconsider his resignation one more time, withdraw it, and continue his work,” the Partizan statement said.
It remains to be seen what the reaction of the legendary Žoc will be, given that an irrevocable resignation means the coach’s decision to leave, and the question is how much weight this decision by Partizan actually has on the entire situation.
More will be known in the hours to follow.
