Last night in Belgrade, singer Daniel Kajmakoski was kidnapped. The abduction took place near Beton Hala, where the singer was performing, and Mladen Mijatović presented all the details and revealed what the singer told him before being taken for a medical examination.
“I think they were foreign nationals, they communicated with each other in English and Turkish, they threatened me with a gun, demanded from family members and friends to prepare 20,000 euros in order to release him, with the threat that accomplices were positioned in front of his apartment who would carry out the threat,” he said after being taken to the hospital for examination, Mladen Mijatović revealed.
He was approached by two individuals, allegedly foreign nationals, armed with a knife and a gun. They forced him into a car and tied him up, and footage of the kidnapping has also surfaced.
KIDNAPPING DETAILS
Shortly after the abduction, the kidnappers encountered a police checkpoint in Karađorđeva Street, after which a chase ensued when the driver of a white “Volvo XC60” ignored police orders and began fleeing toward Branko’s Bridge, media report.
The strongest units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Belgrade Police Department immediately joined the pursuit. The coordinated operation was led by the UKP, with support from: the SAJ and the Gendarmerie, the SSK (Service for Special Investigative Methods) and the SBPTE, the USP (Traffic Police) and the UZT (Directorate for Technology).
Throughout the ordeal, the kidnappers kept a gun pointed at the singer’s head and demanded 20,000 euros for his life, threatening that their accomplices, who allegedly were already monitoring his apartment, would harm his wife and children.
After passing the Šimanovci toll booth, pressure from police forces forced the driver to make a mistake. Near the exit for Ruma, the “Volvo” hit a protective guardrail. The two armed attackers used the darkness to flee in an unknown direction, while members of the UKP found the bound Kajmakoski in the wrecked vehicle.
The area around Ruma is currently under a complete blockade. Members of the SAJ and the Gendarmerie are using service dogs and state-of-the-art thermal imaging equipment in the search for the fugitives who, according to the victim, communicated in the Turkish language. The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office has classified the case as Kidnapping.
