The relics of Ognjena Marija, that is, Saint Great Martyr Marina, have arrived at the Romanian Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Glogonj, where they will remain until February 3, so that believers may approach them and venerate them.
On the occasion of the transfer of the relics, a Holy Hierarchical Liturgy was also held.
The Orthodox Church venerates Saint Great Martyr Marina as a protector against illness, especially severe and sudden ones, as well as a saint to whom believers pray for spiritual strength, healing, and protection from evil.
Among the Serbian people, she is known as Ognjena Marija, and her feast day, celebrated on July 30, is considered one of the most revered summer holidays, accompanied by numerous folk customs and beliefs.
According to church tradition, after her martyrdom in Antioch of Pisidia in the 4th century, the relics were kept in the East during the early centuries of Christianity. By the beginning of the 10th century, they were located in Antioch, from where they were transferred to Constantinople.
