This year’s Radivoj Korać Cup has concluded, and the trophy remains with its current holder. Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet triumphed over Partizan after overtime with a score of 89:83 (16:20, 24:17, 18:20, 19:20, 12:6).
The electric atmosphere in a packed “Čair” arena set the stage for an intense 45-minute basketball battle. Unlike their recent EuroLeague clash, this derby delivered higher quality and a trophy-worthy fight.
The match was tight throughout, with no team gaining a significant lead, except for Partizan briefly in the second quarter. The game was filled with impressive plays, aggressive defense, and tension until the final buzzer.
Coaches surprisingly started Koprivica and Petrušev at center instead of Tyrique and Bolomboy. This affected Partizan’s early rebounding struggles, while Zvezda’s performance hinged on Petrušev’s presence.
Petrušev dominated the paint early, scoring eight points in ten minutes, keeping Zvezda in the game. Partizan gained control with Tyrique’s entry and open shots, led by Pokuševski’s initiative, ending the first quarter 20:16.
Partizan continued strong in the second quarter, leading by nine points, but Zvezda’s free throws and rebounds closed the gap. Petrušev’s return and three quick attacks kept Zvezda competitive, finishing the half 40:37.
The second half was a back-and-forth contest. Zvezda increased its lead to six, but Partizan’s Karlik turned the game around with steals and crucial points, making it 50:47.
The final quarter saw intense exchanges, with Karlik and Washington for Partizan and Kalinić and Dobrić for Zvezda leading the charge. A dramatic sequence in the last minutes led to a 77:77 tie and overtime after a controversial free throw incident.
In overtime, Kodi stepped up for Zvezda, scoring key points, while Kalinić’s free throws secured the lead. Kodi’s final dunk sealed the 89:83 victory, as Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet defended its Korać Cup title.
