The Monarchists – Movement for the Kingdom of Serbia today condemned the authorities’ decision to completely abolish funds for the maintenance of the Royal Palace complex in Dedinje in the 2026 budget, assessing it as “revenge by Aleksandar Vučić’s regime” against Prince Filip Karađorđević. In a statement by the Monarchists – Movement for the Kingdom of Serbia alliance, it was assessed that the decision followed a recent public statement by Prince Filip, in which he called for the removal of the tent settlement in front of the House of the National Assembly, the so-called “Ćacilend,” as well as for the restoration of Pionirski Park to its original state from the time of the Kingdom of Serbia.

Co-president of the Monarchists and Member of Parliament for the NADA coalition, Dušan Radosavljević, stated that for the first time in history, funding for the maintenance of the Royal Palace complex, which has the status of a cultural property of exceptional importance for Serbia, has been completely suspended.

According to him, “even the communists allocated funds for its maintenance, while the current government is leaving the palace to decay.”

Radosavljević also assessed that it is a “shame for the state” that the Karađorđević family “is still living as subtenants on their ancestral land,” stating that they were excluded from the restitution process and that “property created by generations of this dynasty, from Karađorđe to King Petar and Aleksandar, has not been returned to them.”

He added that the state, until it returns the property to the Karađorđevićs, is obliged to maintain the Royal Palace complex, especially bearing in mind its cultural and historical significance.

The Monarchists stated that for the maintenance of the Royal Palace complex in Dedinje, 67 million dinars were allocated from the budget in 2024, 77 million in 2025, while for 2026, it is planned that not a single dinar will be allocated for that purpose.

The alliance requested the authorities to return the funds for the maintenance of the Royal Palace complex or, if they do not wish to do so, to return the property to the Karađorđević family in full ownership.
