A student disrupted the speech of U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris at the University of Milwaukee in protest, accusing Israel of committing “genocide” during its operation against the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The student, wearing a keffiyeh, interrupted Harris’s speech at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, accusing her of supporting Israel, which he claimed has committed genocide in Gaza, reported the Times of Israel, citing Tanjug.
“I respect your right to speak. I know what you’re talking about. I want a ceasefire,” Harris responded to the student.
Security then escorted the student out of the venue as he spoke about the number of casualties in Gaza, while Harris stated that she did not come to the university to discuss Gaza, but acknowledged that it is a reality and respected the student’s voice.
Some media outlets reported that by stating it is a reality, Harris agreed with the student’s claim that Israel committed “genocide” in Gaza, while others noted that she concurred with his statement regarding the casualty figures released by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
