As stated, the two tankers were carrying around 400,000 barrels of Iraqi crude oil.
For comparison, the ecological disaster caused by the sinking of the tanker Exxon Valdez oil tanker resulted from the spill of 260,000 barrels, which means this could become the largest accident of that type in history if oil spills from both tankers.
