Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban commented on social media following the conviction of Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska.
Orban posted a message on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter:
“The political witch hunt against President Milorad Dodik is a sad example of using the legal system as a weapon against a democratically elected leader. If we want to preserve stability in the Western Balkans, this is not the way forward!” Orban stated.
His message was reposted by Milorad Dodik on his own profile on the same social network.

The President of Croatia Also Spoke Out
Croatian President Zoran Milanović questioned what century people are living in today, as a “colonial administrator” attempts to remove the most popular Serbian politician in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, from politics. He emphasized that this will not intimidate the Serbs.
“Dodik is the most popular politician among Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is the so-called European way, which is completely wrong. It’s not even violent. It’s meddling, scheming, an attempt to remove a democratically elected representative of the Serbian people—whom we’ve had many disagreements with—from political life just because he didn’t obey the order of a colonial administrator, a long-retired German politician. What century are we living in?” Milanović asked, as reported by RTRS.
At a press conference, Milanović commented on the verdict against the President of Republika Srpska, warning that “tomorrow, this could happen to Croats too.”
“Someone thinks this will intimidate the Serbs— it won’t. It will only make them more defiant,” Milanović said, adding that he is “not defending Dodik.”

Milanović believes that finding a common language and an agreement with the Serbs is necessary.
“We must try to find common ground and an agreement with the Serbs, who have always acted as if they are in a straitjacket. Not by making a third party suffer, as the doom-mongers from Sarajevo constantly repeat. Even if we had ill intentions, we wouldn’t be capable of that. We just want equal rights, for Croats to elect their own representatives—nothing more,” Milanović stated.
He also expressed his belief that the Serbs will not secede from Bosnia and Herzegovina easily, but that this kind of approach only helps them move in that direction.
