Students in the blockade of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad invited citizens to gather again this evening in front of the building of that higher education institution.
As stated in the invitation, the gathering under the slogan “The noise continues” is scheduled for 7 p.m.
“Bring whistles, vuvuzelas, charged speakers, whatever you use to make noise,” the students said.
Students, professors, and citizens have been gathering in front of the Philosophy building since Tuesday, when dean Milivoje Alanović broke into the building with several employees and kicked out the students who had blocked the faculty.
Alanović also called the police to the building, and since then, dozens of police officers have been continuously inside the building, as well as outside, preventing employees and students from entering the building.
On the first day of the blockade, on Tuesday, August 26, there was a pushing between demonstrators and the police, which led to several arrests.
On Wednesday, in addition to the police intervention unit, the gendarmerie also reacted, and they pushed the demonstrators from the entrance to the faculty with force, stun grenades, and pyrotechnics.
