Patricia Kaunda Radojičić (25), a Serbian daughter-in-law from Zambia, has been living in Čačak for a couple of years – and she’s living the Serbian dream. Due to her love for her husband, she decided to continue her life right here, where she was warmly welcomed into his family. Today, Patricia is an Orthodox Christian, speaks Serbian, loves roasted meat, knows how to make cakes, and records it, with a smile, for Instagram and TikTok.

But one of the topics that particularly touched her followers was her video about her mother-in-law. Because, as she says – “that’s not just a mother-in-law, that’s a pure soul.”

In a new video circulating online, Patricia speaks tenderly and with great respect about the woman who, as she herself says, accepted her as her own. Her mother-in-law was the first to reach out, the first to offer help, the first to make a pie – and not just one.

In the video, she wrote about how her mother-in-law taught her to prepare homemade cakes, one of which she often makes especially for her, knowing how much she likes it. Patricia does not hide her gratitude but emphasizes it: she enjoys their cooking together, looks forward to every meal they prepare together, and it especially means a lot to her that she is part of a warm and tender family.

-She is so gentle, kind, patient, a pure soul, and I wouldn’t wish for any other mother-in-law – Patricia wrote.

Patricia moved to Serbia in early 2023 out of love for her husband. In Čačak, she says, she lives peacefully, beautifully, and – deliciously. The food amazed her, but also something deeper: family connection.

-I really like Čačak, I’ve been living here since March, so about nine months. What fascinates me here is the delicious food, the best roast, and the people are kind. Whenever help is needed, the people of Čačak gladly help. What I also like is that families are together here, Čačak is a clean and beautiful city, I like the center and the fountain, everything is somehow good – Patricia Kaunda Radojičić from Zambia once told RINA.

In the autumn of the same year, she was baptized in the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God. For her, it was a big moment.

-I am now an Orthodox Christian, I was baptized in Čačak in the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, that day is very important to me and I am very happy, because I am now in the Orthodox faith. Orthodoxy is important to me, as well as to my husband, family, and our future. Friends and family from Zambia are happy because I am also happy here in Čačak, this place is good for me and everything is close – said the Serbian daughter-in-law from Zambia.

This year, they also had a child.

She had been learning Serbian since 2019, when she met her current husband. Today, she speaks it fluently, with a charming accent, but without error in emotion.

Through the videos, posts, and daily details she shares, one can see how much she has embraced the spirit of the environment – without any pretense. She learns, asks, understands, respects. And when she talks about her mother-in-law – it doesn’t seem like empty praise, but rather a testament to the closeness of two women who found a common language not only through recipes and spices but also through mutual attention and tenderness.

This sentence from her video resonates, not because it sounds perfect, but because it is sincere. Patricia doesn’t use big words, but her message is big. That relationships can be built, that differences don’t have to be an obstacle, that kindness can bridge anything. And the mother-in-law? She is neither a witch nor a fairy tale fairy. But she is simply a woman who knows that the most beautiful pie is the one you make for someone you care about.
