The administration of US President Donald Trump announced that it is reviewing more than 55 million people who have valid US visas.

It is being checked whether these people have possibly violated regulations, which could lead to their deportation.

Everything is happening at a time of growing actions against foreigners who are allowed to stay in the USA.

In a written response to a question from the AP, the State Department stated that all those who have visas, including foreign tourists, are subject to a constant check to see if they are for some reason ineligible for a permit to enter or stay in the USA.

If such information is found, the visa would be revoked, and, if the visa holder is already in the USA, he or she will be deported, the State Department added.

Since President Donald Trump took office, his administration has focused on deporting migrants who are illegally in the USA, as well as holders of student visas and exchange visitor visas. The new language of the State Department indicates that the constant review process, which officials admit takes a lot of time, has gained significant momentum and that even those who have a permit to stay in the USA can have it suddenly revoked.

Last year, there were 12.8 million people with green cards and 3.6 million people on temporary visas in the USA, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The figure of 55 million indicates that some of the people who are subject to the review could be outside the USA with multiple-entry tourist visas, said Julia Gelatt of the Migration Policy Institute. She questioned the value of spending resources on people who may never return to the USA.

The State Department announced that it is focusing on indicators of ineligibility, including people who have stayed longer than the permitted period given in the visa, on criminal activity, threats to public order, on involvement in any terrorist activity, or providing support to a terrorist organization.

“We review all available information as part of our check, including police or immigration data or any other information that emerges after the visa is issued that may indicate a potential ineligibility,” the State Department announced.

The USA will stop issuing work visas for commercial truck drivers, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced yesterday on the network X.

“The increased number of foreign drivers who drive large trucks with trailers on American roads are putting American lives at risk and jeopardizing the earning potential of American truck drivers,” Rubio wrote.
