The opposition in Zaječar managed to enter the municipal building where the electoral material is located. The entry was preceded by pushing with the police, who initially did not allow the opposition to enter until they received an order to do otherwise. Opposition representatives state that they were told they could not inspect the electoral material today because two conferences were being held in the building. However, inside they found only the Gendarmerie.

An N1 reporter from Zaječar reported that the police officers standing in front of the City Administration in Zaječar received an order to let opposition representatives into the building, whom they had previously prevented from entering and inspecting the electoral material.

The opposition entered the City Administration building peacefully, and there was no incident. Strong police forces are still present outside, at the back entrance, and within the City Administration building itself.

Among those still denied entry is a member of the City Election Commission (GIK) from the opposition, who was told by the GIK president in a phone conversation that his entry was forbidden. As he told N1, the reason is that he had been pointing out irregularities for the past month, and on election day itself, he pointed out irregularities that the GIK had also committed.

“I protested, and that’s why I’m forbidden,” he told N1.

Uglješa Đuričković, candidate for mayor of Zaječar from the “Change I Believe In” list, said that the opposition was given an appointment for Wednesday at 10:30 AM to inspect the electoral material.

Today, this was prevented under the pretext that both halls of the City Administration were occupied because a congress was being held in them. The opposition, however, confirmed that the Gendarmerie was stationed in the small hall, and the large hall was empty.
Đuričković said that it was a clear attempt to obstruct the opposition because the deadline for submitting complaints expires on Wednesday at 8 PM.

Citizens of Zaječar have also gathered in front of the City Administration, protesting the decision of the leadership and the strong police presence.

“For the first time in history, I am ashamed to be from Zaječar. I am ashamed of the people’s police whom we pay. Our children’s food is taken from their mouths to give them salaries, and they defend those who destroy our children and us. Shame on the people’s police and on Zaječar,” this indignant woman from Zaječar told N1, which was met with applause from the gathered crowd. At one point, there was also pushing in front of the city administration, reports the N1 reporter.

The entry of opposition representatives into the City Administration building was preceded by pushing with the police who were preventing entry. Opposition representatives spoke on the phone with the GIK president, but he did not allow them to enter the building.

A large number of police officers in full gear are also inside the building itself, according to opposition members.

One of the opposition members says that they can only review the electoral material starting tomorrow and that they are only there to see what kind of conferences are currently being held in the building.

Those gathered also state that a police officer spoke with the GIK president and that when he called him – the phone displayed “Brother Nenad.”
