His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije is serving the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the renovated Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Pakrac, with the co-celebration of several bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, RTRS reports.
The Serbian Patriarch will consecrate the renovated church in Pakrac, which was first built around 1750 and represents one of the most significant Serbian holy sites in Slavonia.
A large number of believers are participating in the liturgical celebration. Throughout its centuries-long history, the church in Pakrac was the spiritual and cultural center for Serbs in Slavonia, and it was also the seat of the Bishop of Pakrac.
During the war devastation of the nineties, the church was severely damaged and long neglected.
The renovation of the cathedral, which lasted for several years, is the result of the combined effort, faith, and love of the Serbian people for their holy place.
The consecration of the renovated church represents a joyful return of spiritual life to Pakrac and a testament to the resurrection and perseverance of the Serbian people.
