The Crvena zvezda basketball players recorded another victory in the EuroLeague, a fairly important one ahead of the continuation of the competition. They celebrated on their home court against Dubai with a 95:92 win in Round 25, marking their 15th triumph and moving one step closer to the TOP 8 phase.
What a game by Zvezda, one might say – déjà vu, something already seen from the red-and-whites, as the impression is that they have been doing this all season. They start the game in a perfect way, look like the best team in all of Europe, and then a downfall occurs from which the question arises – is there a way back?
It is hard to say who is responsible in this situation; the finger could always first be pointed at the coach, who in this game as well “killed the team’s momentum” when he decided to change the entire starting five, above all Cody Miller-McIntyre, who scored nine points, along with six assists and three rebounds.
Maybe it is the coach, but then again, maybe it is also the players, who injected themselves with too large a dose of self-confidence and the thought that “they will handle this easily.”

Dubai punished that, threatening during the second and third quarters. Dubai completely returned to the game during the second 10 minutes on the floor, breathing down their necks, having chances to even take the lead… In the end, Zvezda preserved a minimal advantage and the teams went into the second half.
Saša Obradović also had a lot of influence through Jordan Nwora, who scored 10 of Zvezda’s 24 points in the third quarter, which Jared Butler finished with a three-pointer, thus giving Zvezda a 68:61 lead.
He opened the final quarter with a three-pointer over Bacon, but Butler continued in his rhythm and added new points, which led Zvezda to another victory.
The red-and-whites ultimately remained satisfied in Belgrade, as it can be said that they played a great, literally great game, even though it did not look that way during certain stretches. In the end, everything could have turned into drama.
Dubai managed through Bacon to cut the deficit to eight points, but then Nwora managed to score, as Kabengele’s hand got involved, influencing that shot. The red-and-whites secured a big victory.
At the very end of the game, the best performer for the winners was Jordan Nwora with 20 points, Ebuka Izundu added 18, while Cody and Butler scored 16 each.
