After dedicating the song “Uprising” to the current protests in Serbia, NOVAK went a step further – his latest video uncompromisingly hits the core, more powerfully than any before! The video for the song “Evil” is not just a music video – it is a dark chronicle of the countless misfortunes that have marked Serbia in the last three and a half decades.
Innovatively combining artificial intelligence with relentless everyday life, the video takes us through the most dramatic moments of our history – from the wars, poverty and chaos of the nineties, through the NATO aggression in 1999, all the way to the Fifth of October and the final fall of Slobodan Milošević. Each shocking image reminds us of what our country has gone through, but this gloomy collage also warns us of everything we have, almost willingly, turned a blind eye to.
However, the story does not stop there. Moreover. The video unreservedly depicts the period of the SNS and Aleksandar Vučić’s rule, encompassing all the major scandals that have marked the last decade. From the illegal demolition in Savamala, through the Jovanjica affair, all the way to tragedies such as the helicopter crash and the collapse of the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad, “Evil” offers an uninterrupted series of images that leave no room for indifference.
Visually impressive, emotionally brutal and devastating in its message, this video is an unprecedented undertaking on the domestic music scene. The editing is fast and merciless, the music thunders in the background, and the scenes are such that they engrave themselves into your consciousness and leave you breathless. NOVAK has raised the standard for engaged art with this video, proving that music can be more than entertainment – it can be a weapon against oblivion.
“Evil” is more than a song and more than a video. It is a mirror of the society we live in. If you dare to look, you will not remain the same.
