Of the four war veterans detained in Kraljevo, three were released after an informational interview, and the lawyer of one of them, Vladimi Beočanin, told N1 that there was no legal basis for their detention.

“As one of the veterans told me, who contacted me at 6:30 this morning, a larger group of police officers came to his apartment under the order of a judge from the Higher Court in Kraljevo to carry out a search on suspicion that weapons were present in his apartment and business premises. The search was conducted according to the rules of the Criminal Procedure Code, and during the search of the apartment, business premises, and weekend house, nothing was found – that is all I know so far,” Beočanin said.

According to him, the police searched the properties of four citizens of Kraljevo who had previously participated in protests in front of the Association of Veterans of the 63rd Parachute Brigade from Niš.

“They were clearly expressing their stance at the protests, just as students and other participants do. In my opinion, this was simply an act of intimidation ahead of, potentially, some future protests,” the lawyer concluded.

As a reminder, under the order of the Higher Court in Kraljevo, four family homes of war veterans, members of the 63rd Parachute Unit, who regularly appear at student protests, were searched this morning. According to the order, the search was conducted on the grounds of illegal possession of weapons.
