Sources speaking to Kurir claim that Tihomir Krstić deliberately built a false image of himself, tailoring his story to each person—presenting himself to some as a “victim” and to others as a “reformed ex-con.”
After the arrest of Tihomir Krstić (44), the Novi Beograd attacker suspected of attempting to murder a woman, Kurir has learned unofficially that an increasing number of people have come forward claiming to have been his victims during the two months he spent free.
According to a source for Kurir, the suspect allegedly “borrowed” money from several acquaintances, presenting himself as an honest man trying to resolve his problems and start a normal life, giving firm promises that he would repay all debts.
“He said he needed money ‘for a short time,’ that he wanted to get back on his feet, and that he would return everything once he started working. People trusted him,” said the source.

MANIPULATOR: Many Reported Being Attacked After His Release
Unofficial reports indicate that from one man, Krstić allegedly took as much as €2,500, which he never returned. After the public became aware of his identity and the crime he is accused of, more victims began to come forward.
“Now everyone is connecting the dots and realizing they were scammed in the same way. Same pattern of behavior, same stories,” said the source.
The source also revealed that the attacker had one previous marriage and a 25-year-old daughter but rarely spoke about this, and when he did, he claimed to be estranged from his family.
- “That was also one of his manipulations. He presented himself as a man betrayed by everyone to evoke sympathy,” the source added.
Kurir’s sources assert that Krstić systematically built a false persona, adjusting his story for each individual—sometimes as a “victim,” other times as a “reformed ex-con,” and to others as a “trustworthy friend needing a little help.”
“It wasn’t about the money. It’s a pattern of behavior. He is a manipulator and a psychopath,” the source stated.
As a reminder, the attacker remains in police custody, and the investigation is expanding as new information and testimonies emerge from people claiming to have been defrauded or endangered by his actions.
Kurir reports that police are verifying all claims, and additional legal proceedings against the suspect for fraud are not ruled out.
