An agreement has been reached on the formation of a new government in Podgorica, with Saša Mujović as the new mayor.
An agreement has been reached on the formation of local government in Podgorica between the alliance of the Europe Now Movement-Democratic Montenegro, the Movement for Podgorica, and the “For the Future of Montenegro” alliance, RTCG reports.
The mayor will be PES official Saša Mujović, the president of the Capital Assembly Jelena Borovinić Bojović on behalf of the “For the Future of Podgorica” coalition, while the deputy mayor will be Nadja Ljiljanić from the Movement for Podgorica, the website states.
The new local government should have the support of 31 councilors in the local parliament, which has 59 councilor seats.

The agreement comes three months after the local elections and after numerous speculations about who would all be part of the new government in the capital of Montenegro.
At one point, it was said that Jakov Milatović would support the DPS and form a new government with them.
Local elections in Podgorica were held on September 29th. In those elections, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) won 19 mandates, the coalition of the Europe Now Movement (PES) and Democratic Montenegro 14, the “For the Future of Podgorica” coalition 13, the “For a Better Podgorica – Jakov Milatović” list six, the European Union three, and the European Progress Party (SEP) and the Preokret Movement two mandates each.
