Although filming was initially scheduled for this year, it was postponed for organizational reasons, and the news was announced by Kosovo producer Fitim Krasniqi, who has been making films for the international market for years.
In an interview with Blendi Fevziu, Krasniqi confirmed that Robert De Niro will play the role of his father.
Krasniqi claimed that 71 Hollywood actors, including Robert De Niro, will participate in this project, and that all contracts have already been signed.
Let us recall that the Račak case refers to the clash between the security forces of the FRY and members of the so-called KLA in the village of Račak in Kosovo and Metohija, which was used as a pretext for NATO’s bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia two months later, based on the report of the OSCE verification commission headed by the American William Walker.
The operation followed information that the village was a stronghold of the so-called KLA, and that a series of attacks and killings of police officers had taken place in that area. In that region, from July 1998 to January 1999, 24 people were killed—police officers, soldiers, and civilians—and 25 people were wounded.
After the clash between Serbian police and Albanian extremists in the village of Račak, the bodies of 45 Albanians were found. This was followed by an accusation, emphasized particularly by William Walker, that a “massacre of civilians” had taken place.
Serbia rejects Walker’s claims and insists that Račak was a legitimate anti-terrorist police operation against armed members of the terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), which was politically exploited as a pretext to fabricate allegations of a civilian massacre in order to create justification for NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The investigative judge in the “Račak” case, Danica Marinković, previously stated that the head of the verification mission announced on January 16 “a shameless lie.”
“He is an expert, a professional in fabricating and spreading lies and creating scenarios at the behest of his superiors. It was established that all of the dead had injuries caused by firearms,” Marinković emphasized.
