Although Serbia leaves a strong impression of hospitality on many who visit, some also get acquainted with less stellar aspects of life in the country. An Indonesian TikToker shared her experience, causing a stir among those who watched her video.
“This is not a hate post. I actually enjoy it here,” she stated in the description, but the points she listed still angered many viewers.
During her stay in Belgrade, she made a series of observations and decided to share them with her followers.
“What shocked me when I moved to Belgrade as an Indonesian” — with these words, she began her video.
First on her list was, surprisingly, public transportation! She claims that buses are never on time. Immediately after, she turned her attention to parking.
“In Belgrade, people don’t find parking spots, they invent them. On the sidewalk, at bus stops, and they act like it’s normal,” says the girl, whose TikTok account is @veyrahhh.
The third point she mentioned also relates to traffic and, as she puts it: “Everyone is relaxed until they get behind the wheel.” She then listed a string of curse words that everyone has heard at least once, if not used, while driving.

In fourth place on her list of shocking things was coffee!
“The coffee-drinking culture is serious here. People order a small cup and can sit for hours,” she explained her observation.
She then mentioned that everyone in Serbia is stylized: “They look like they’re going to Fashion Week! It doesn’t matter if they’re 16 or 60, everyone looks put together. I love watching them, they’re so beautiful.”
The last thing she wanted to mention was an ugly and unhealthy habit many people in the country have: smoking cigarettes.
“Everyone smokes. Everywhere. Smoking here is like breathing,” she said.
Finally, with a smile, she reiterated that she didn’t mean to offend anyone, yet the comments were numerous, and many still found reasons to be angry.
“Why did you move here, who invited you. Go back,” “Go back to your country,” “If you don’t like it…”, were just some of them, while among the published comments, there was also some support and, unfortunately, profanity.
