The NBA league officially announced that the technical fouls assessed to Luka Dončić and Orlando center Goga Bitadze have been rescinded.

The incident occurred during the dramatic Lakers victory (105:104) on Saturday night, when the two players exchanged harsh words in the Serbian language while Luka was taking free throws.

Had the referees’ decision remained in force, it would have been Dončić’s 16th technical foul of the season, which would automatically have meant a one-game suspension. With this move by the league, Luka remains at 15 technicals and will be available to coach J.J. Redick for the upcoming derby.

Although there were speculations about insults directed at the family, Bitadze tried to calm the situation after the game:

“I have great respect for Luka and his family. Where I come from, family is sacred. He said some inappropriate things in the Serbian language, which I understand because I played there, so I just responded to him. There was nothing directed against his closest ones.”

On the other hand, Dončić admitted that he was frustrated, but also happy that the team pulled out a win that extended their incredible streak.

The Los Angeles team is currently rolling over everyone with nine consecutive victories. Luka Dončić is playing at an MVP level during this stretch, posting frightening statistics:

Points: 40.0 average

Rebounds: 8.4

Assists: 7.4

The next test is the toughest so far – a clash against the Detroit Pistons, who are unexpectedly holding the top spot in the Eastern Conference. The game is scheduled exactly at midnight our time.
