An incident occurred at the “We Will Not Give Up Serbia” rally in Belgrade when citizens started pushing each other, Nemanja Šarović was attacked, and one person tried to take away the phone of a journalist from our paper.

As can be seen in the KTV video, which was reporting live from this rally, supporters of the government at one point, near the Church of Saint Mark, started insulting and throwing things at Šarović, shouting that he was an Ustaša. Then someone, it is not clearly visible who in the video, reached for the camera, and the broadcast was interrupted.

Politician and journalist Nemanja Šarović tells Danas that he was attacked and that there was pushing.

Šarović claims that the gathered people threw a bottle at him.

As he added, Relja Ognjenović, the director of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, was also there as a steward.

Some stewards are arguing with Šarović and Danijel Tadić from KTV, a Danas reporter reports.

During the pushing, one older woman fell, and another older gentleman stumbled.

Also, one steward tried to snatch the phone of a Danas journalist, only to apologize later when our reporter showed him his ID.

A large number of members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are at the scene.

The situation is currently calm, and stewards have called on citizens not to linger.

Danijel Radić, the owner of KTV, explains that supporters of the government insulted and threw things at them, and that someone hit the camera, breaking one of its parts.

Also, that person hit the KTV cameraman in the head, states Radić, who adds that the cameraman probably has a bloody nose.

The police, he states, did not react at that moment, and Relja Ognjenović, the director of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, according to Radić, coordinated with plainclothes police officers “what they would do to them”.

Radić says that currently the police officers want to remove them from the rally because they cannot guarantee their security.
