Iowa State basketball player, Milan Momčilović, scored 27 points and hit seven three-pointers in a convincing victory for the fourth-ranked NCAA team over Long Beach State with a score of 91:60, in a game played on Sunday night.

Momčilović, who entered the match as the Big 12 conference leader in three-point shooting percentage (52.6 percent), hit his first six shots from beyond the 6.75-meter line, which was his best start to a game since November 3, when he shot 7/7 for three points against Fairleigh Dickinson. He finished the match with a performance of 7/9 for three points and 9/11 from the field.

Iowa State dominated from the very start, holding Long Beach State (3-10) to just six points in the first ten minutes of the game. The “Cyclones” led by as much as 45:9 in the middle of the first half, five and a half minutes before going to the break. Otherwise, with this victory, Iowa State improved its record to 12-0 at the start of the season.

Joshua Jefferson added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa State, while Blake Buchanan recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds.

The team from Ames extended its streak to 41 consecutive victories in non-conference games at home, which is the second-longest streak in history. For the third time in club history, Iowa State started the season with 12 consecutive victories, following the 2013/14 and 2021/22 seasons.

In the Long Beach State team, the most efficient was freshman Gavin Sykes with 19 points. With this defeat, Long Beach State recorded its 15th consecutive loss on the road, as well as its 33rd straight loss against ranked opponents.
