Active students at Megatrend University cannot continue their studies at this university, its faculties, or its study programs following the revocation of operating licenses for Megatrend University and its constituent faculties, the Ministry of Education has announced.

The Ministry rejected the possibility of active students staying at the institution, stating that “The Law on Higher Education does not recognize such a legal situation.”

The Plan for Transition

The Ministry informed the public that the Republic Education Inspectorate is currently supervising Megatrend to determine the exact number of enrolled students. This is being done so that an official act can be passed to facilitate the continuation of their studies at other higher education institutions.

  • Completion of Studies: The Minister of Education will issue an act listing the students and the accredited programs at other universities where they can transfer.
  • Costs: The costs for completing studies at a new institution must be covered by Megatrend University, in accordance with the existing contractual obligations between the students and the defunct university.

Revoked Licenses

On November 26, 2025, the Ministry issued decisions revoking the operating licenses for:

  • The Faculty of Culture and Media
  • The Faculty of Business Studies
  • The Faculty of Art and Design
  • The Faculty of Law
  • The Geo-economic Faculty

The Faculty of Civil Aviation is currently under supervision but still holds a valid license and accreditation for now.

Validity of Existing Diplomas

The Ministry clarified that all diplomas issued before November 26, 2025, remain valid and have the same legal standing as those from any other Serbian university.

This clarification comes after the Government of Montenegro temporarily suspended the recognition of educational documents from Megatrend. The Ministry emphasized that revoking a license does not retroactively invalidate degrees earned while the institution was legal.

End of an Era

With these decisions, Megatrend University—where many public figures, including high-ranking ministers, obtained degrees and doctorates—officially goes down in history.

Notable alumni and controversial cases linked to Megatrend include:

  • Nebojša Stefanović (Former Interior Minister): Notarized a degree from a non-existent school in the UK through Megatrend.
  • Zorana Mihajlović (Former Deputy PM): Completed her studies there.
  • Irena Vujović (Former Ecology Minister): An alumna.
  • Nenad Borovčanin (Former State Secretary for Sport): An alumnus.
