Austrian media have published photographs of Artur R. (21), suspected of the massacre at a school in Graz, where he killed 10 people and then committed suicide.
Kronen writes that these are earlier photographs of the killer, showing a young man with blond hair.
In one of them, he holds a cat in front of him; in another, he poses as a typical teenager – it is unimaginable that such a person would later cause bloodshed.
Artur lived with his mother, older brother, and cat in a quiet suburb of Graz; his father was of Armenian origin.
Nothing suggested that the shy, withdrawn young man, as described by neighbors, could commit one of the worst crimes in the country’s history, writes Heute.
Until seven years ago, he attended computer classes at the new elementary school (NMS). After moving, his father no longer lived in the same household since their separation. Artur A. first attended business school (until 2019). He then transferred to high school (Oberstufen-Realgymnasium).

At Borg High School, where he committed his horrific act on Tuesday, killing 10 people, he attended the information and communication technologies department. He was not a good student and had to repeat a year before finally leaving school without a diploma in 2022.
On Tuesday morning, he killed 10 people at the school in Graz, nine teenagers and one teacher, and then locked himself in the school toilet where he shot himself.
Meanwhile, new details have emerged about the farewell video that the monster sent to his mother via mobile phone just before the attack. In it, he asked for forgiveness for “what I am about to do.” He then thanked his mother for the “care” he received.
According to investigators, the mother opened the video 24 minutes after receiving it – by then, the massacre had already been committed, and the perpetrator himself was dead.
Police are still investigating the motive for the mass murder at the school, and Artur revealed in his farewell letter that he had been bullied.
The youngest victim was only 14 years old; the others were between 15 and 17, and a 59-year-old teacher was also among the killed.
