Iranian authorities have received the American 15-point plan, claim two Pakistani officials in a statement to AP.

Pakistani officials also touched upon the content of the proposal, saying it contains the following points:

-Easing of sanctions
-Cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy
-Reduction of Iran’s nuclear program
-Monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency
-Restrictions on Iran’s missile program
-Passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz

Let us remind you, American President Donald Trump claimed yesterday that Washington is talking to “the right people” in Iran and “they really want to make a deal”.

He also said that Iran agreed with the U.S. that it would never have nuclear weapons and gave the U.S. “a very valuable gift related to oil and gas and the Strait of Hormuz”.

Official Tehran denied negotiating with the U.S., and a military spokesman ironically said that the U.S. is negotiating with itself.

One Egyptian official involved in mediation efforts between Iran and the United States described the 15 points proposed by the Americans as a “comprehensive agreement” to achieve a ceasefire in the war.

The official said the proposal includes restrictions on Iran’s missile program and its arming of armed groups, as well as enabling unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow entrance to the Persian Gulf.

However, the proposal is being “considered” as a basis for further negotiations between the states, added the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to present yet unpublished details of the proposal.

He said Iranian officials remain “very skeptical” of the Donald Trump administration.

The official compared the 15-point plan to the 20-point plan for a Gaza ceasefire, emphasizing that “enormous efforts are needed to align the details if both sides agree to sit at the negotiating table”.

Mediators are trying to organize possible direct negotiations between Iran and the United States, possibly as early as Friday in Pakistan, according to the Egyptian official and two Pakistani officials who confirmed that the proposal was delivered to Iran.

However, this would require the American delegation to leave the U.S. immediately to arrive on time.

Iranian officials are likely still expressing concerns about Israel, whose airstrikes in the war have killed high-ranking officials, including associates of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
