A large civic protest began at 6 pm due to the death of 14 people at the Novi Sad Railway Station. The intersection near the station is closed, and there is no traffic in a part of Bulevar Jaše Tomića. The organizers are demanding that all those directly and indirectly responsible for the tragedy that occurred on November 1st, when a concrete canopy fell on people, resign and face criminal charges.

The protest began with a minute of silence for the victims of the tragedy, followed by the reading of their names. Some participants in the protest are carrying photos of those killed when the canopy collapsed.

At the beginning of the gathering, Aleksandra Pleskonjić Ilić, the leading actress of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, addressed those present.

She read out the organizers’ demands that those responsible for this tragedy be arrested and punished and that all contracts concluded with all companies involved in the reconstruction of the Railway Station be published.

It was also demanded that the President of the Serbian Government and the Mayor of Novi Sad resign.

Goran Vesic has also formally resigned as Minister of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure, following the accident in Novi Sad.
