On the list of the best dishes in the world for 2025/2026, the Serbian Komplet Lepinja took 8th place, while the best dish was declared to be Vori-vori from Paraguay.

On the list of the 100 best dishes in the world for 2025/2026, published annually by the website “Taste Atlas,” the Užice Komplet Lepinja (Complete Flatbread) took the 8th position as a dish typically eaten for breakfast.

The best dish was declared to be the soup “Vori-vori” from Paraguay, and the list of the top 100 dishes in the world also included one dish from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the “Sirnica” (Cheese Pie) from the Sarajevo buregdžinica “Oklagija,” which ranked 62nd.

As for the Užice Komplet Lepinja, the “Taste Atlas” website highlighted three places where it is considered the best: Šuljaga (Užice), Blue Moon I (Užice), and Zorina Krčma (Dobroselica).

“This delicacy consists of a traditional flatbread (lepinja) that is sliced in half, spread with rich kajmak (clotted cream), and topped with an egg. The prepared lepinja is briefly baked and then drizzled with a mixture of warm meat drippings and fat, locally known as pretop,” reads the description of Komplet Lepinja on the Taste Atlas website.

It is added that “the name komplet (complete) can be freely translated as ‘with everything,’ and the dish is traditionally associated with Užice and Zlatibor.”

“It is believed to originate from the period before World War II, while the name was officially registered by Dragan Lazić, the current owner of the ‘Kod Šuljage’ bakery in Užice,” writes Taste Atlas.

Although highly nutritious and caloric, this dish is most often eaten for breakfast and pairs best with a glass of yogurt or sour milk. For the most authentic experience, it is recommended to eat it by hand.

The Vori Vori Soup from Paraguay Won

The winning dish, “Vori Vori” from Paraguay, is a soup prepared with small balls made of corn flour and cheese, cooked in a broth that often contains chicken, vegetables, and herbs, and is considered one of the staple foods in rural and urban areas throughout the country.

The preparation involves mixing finely ground corn flour with grated cheese and a small amount of fat or broth to obtain a firm dough. Small balls are then shaped and gently cooked in a simmering broth until they swell and soften. The soup is seasoned with onions, garlic, parsley, and sometimes paprika, and served as soon as the dumplings reach a uniform texture.
